Fabulous house in superb location
We booked the house for a week with family and friends (10 adults) following our son’s wedding in Doxford. We had high expectations having seen the photos on the web-site but in reality it exceeded our expectations both in terms of the beautiful, spacious elegant house and the superb location. We could all have sat for hours watching the ever-changing view of the estuary and sea from the first floor sitting room or several of the fabulous bedrooms, but there was so much to do locally! We especially loved the visit to the beautiful Howick Hall Gardens and the lovely walk from Craster up to Dunstanburgh castle (along with lots of other beach/coastal walks) The house is beautifully decorated, was immaculately clean on arrival and we have absolutely no complaints! I had been slightly concerned about parking (we had 5 cars between us) but we never had any trouble finding spots close by and the 2 visitors permits helped. It was great to be able to walk to local pubs and restaurants in the lovely village. Our deposit was returned promptly and Sue was helpful with any enquiries we made prior to and during our stay. I would thoroughly recommend the house for a stay on this beautiful coast.
However, the house exceeded even these high expectations.
It is absolutely beautiful, and you could not ask for a better location to enjoy stunning views, great walking, what feels like your very own beach, and easy driving to many of the delights Northumbria has to offer.
Elegantly decorated and with grand Edwardian proportions, the house somehow also manages to feel luxuriously large and cosy and welcoming at the same time.
The kitchen is extensively equipped and just asks to be cooked in as a family. We welcomed the logs for a fire in the sitting room (it was November) and, throughout the stay, never needed anything that hadn’t already been considered and made available.
Sue was a real help in booking the property. We had all the details we needed and my security deposit was promptly returned.
This is quite a big house – so if you aren’t comfortable walking about a bit or managing a lot of stairs it might not be for you. But for anyone happy with that, Ferrysyde is pretty much perfect….
Just accept that your own kitchen might look a bit small afterwards and you’ll be planning your return even as you are driving away on your last day!

The house is amazing. Beautiful grand rooms with everything you could need, much more than a home away from home. Alnmouth was fantastic with enough going on to keep us entertained but keeping a relaxed feel. Location could not be beat just across a small road to the glorious beach. I loved watching the sea birds and the odd heron from my bedroom window whilst enjoying a coffee. There were 10 of us staying and there is so much room you never feel on top of each other. I could not recommend this property enough we will be back!

Family holiday in Alnmouth
If you are considering a family holiday in Alnmouth look no further than Ferrysyde house which is situated in the most fantastic position overlooking both the river and beach. The house is very spacious with excellent amenities required for a family / group holiday.
We have stayed there 3 times with sons, daughters, parents and grandparents and have very happy memories of our time spent in Alnmouth.
Beautiful, spacious and wonderful sea views
We chose well when we decided on Ferrysyde for our family holiday. The house is beautiful, spacious and has wonderful sea views. The location is perfect as just across the road are steps down to a lovely beach – ideal for adults and children alike. A short walk from Ferrysyde is the centre of Alnmouth with its many eateries; and of course there are many other places to visit along the Northumberland coast.
We had a wonderful family gathering at Ferrysyde for the week of July 7th-14th 2017. It’s a beautiful, spacious house, with amazing views of the estuary and sea from most of the upstairs windows and very easy access to the beach, which is just across the road. Our ages ranged from 10 to 80 and we all enjoyed the comfort and character of the house very much. Thank you Sue. We couldn’t think of a better place to stay.
